The history of this place begins in 1639, when the Countess of Atalaia, D. Iria de Brito, donated some land she owned between Belém and Pedrouços to the Irish Dominican nuns. Thus was born the convent of Bom Sucesso. It was on a part of these grounds, west of the beachfront convent that it took its name, that began to emerge, from 1807, the set of buildings that today forms the “Bom Sucesso”. The project “Bom Sucesso” seeks to keep the memory of the place alive, preserving the industrial nature of the old buildings – through architectural elements such as gable roofs and extensive symmetrical fenestration.
